About Us

Cornwall‐based toy distributor Marbel specialises in bringing wooden, quality, classic, traditional, innovative and educational toys to the UK market. The firm was set up six years ago by husband and wife team Christoph and Rebecca Bettin, who started the company after spending several years working in Munich, Germany, for American multinational General Electric. During their time overseas the couple noticed that traditional toys like wooden trains, metal construction kits and baby toys were still popular with parents and children, and saw an opportunity to bring the idea back to the UK.
Christoph said:

“In an increasingly electronic world our toys offer something to parents that is more traditional and allows greater interaction for young children. Our toys are visually stimulating and tactile, great fun and are of excellent quality. Above all we ensure our products are able to spark children’s imagination and provide excellent playtime value.”

The company has been growing ever since its inception and two years ago announced record growth of over 300%. To manage the increased demand, the company moved into a new and larger warehouse. The updated warehouse has greatly improved order picking and packing efficiency, and not only is Marbel now dealing with an increased number of orders, they are reaching customers with decreased delivery times. 2009 kicked off in a great way as well, The Toyfair was a huge success for Marbel, the new catalogue, new products and new stand proved to be hugely popular and it was great to see so many new and existing customers. The Spring Fair saw Marbel exhibit in its award winning wooden Wendy house and again Marbel experienced a great event, with increased footfall on the stand and a great reaction to new products.

Marbel currently distributes to over 800 customers based around the UK and Eire, from independent toy shops right up to large national chains and supermarkets. The Marbel brand continues to grow from strength to strength and 2011 looks set to be another great year for the toy distributor.

Marbel currently distributes quality children’s products from the following leading brands; Plan Toys, I’M Toy, K’s Kids, Eitech, Clics, NYBY, Safsof, Dress Your Doll, Edu Toys, Crea T-Shirt, New Classic Toys, L’atitude Enfant and George Luck Puzzles.

makedo

We love making...not just making but making do using the stuff we have, to make something new.

makedo has emerged from a group of people who seek to inspire social change through playful creativity.

We want people to see and inject new value into things that might otherwise be regarded as waste. Our aim is to encourage people to use their imagination and see the creative possibilities in the reuse of everyday materials around them.

Through this process we can redefine what’s considered waste. makedo is about creativity, sustainability, imagination, community and play.

The way of makedo

Coincidence or not? ‘Do’ translates to ‘Way’ in Japanese. Not just any old way but The Way. At makedo, we have A Way. It’s simple, circular and open-ended. You can start and end at any point. So without getting all martial arts on your making, get enlightened by the makedo.

FIND materials by seeing new value in the things around you.

CREATE just about anything using the simple makedo parts.

PLAY because interaction breathes life into your creations.

SHARE your creation with a community of makers.

INSPIRE
and get inspired in our online creation galleries.

These skills are now immortalised using the latest computerised cutting techniques. George Luck puzzles are beautiful and collectible items that families treasure from generation to generation.

Clics

CLICS is an educational construction toy that grows with
the child. CLICS will challenge a child’s mind, kinetic capabilities and its talent for logical thinking like no other toy can. All the CLICS pieces and figures are fully
interchangeable with all the sets.

While other toys might be fiddly and frustrating to small hands, CLICS can be more easily handled and used to create a long lasting
model and a more satisfying play experience.

CLICS are recommended for children age 4 and up. The models can be
as simple or as complicated as they like: from simple blocks and cars to dragsters, planes and even a full village with little CLICS people.

CLICS building plans add to the excitement by guiding children step by step in making some of the more complicated models.

A fantastic mind absorbing toy that will encourage children to plan,
construct and play. Children will love an individual challenge of creating the many hundred of constructions possible or will join a group to create larger constructions.
